Message You can and must balance the reciprocating assembly of the rest is for not!

A good machinist will balance your connecting rods from end to end and balance all pistons to .001 grams if he is worth his salt.

Now many of you will argue that it is not nessasary to balance to such tight tolerences, but if you have the ability it is not any more difficult.

And when we say balanced, what spec are we calling for? All of the rods should be matched to within .001 grams big end and small end. And the crankshaft should be balanced to .002oz/in. At least the are the specs I use daily.

Now keep in mind that these are NASCAR and IMSA and NHRA specs. they can be applied to anything with the right equipment.
